Mike Mroz's musical influences have been shaped differently than most. Born in Warsaw, Poland, but now residing in the states, his direction has been fueled by a European background combined with American tastes. This has lead the young twenty-one year old to develop a style knitting together several genres ranging from electro to his now native Chicago hard disco, separating himself from the stacks of other aspiring DJs..

His love for the genre started at the age of sixteen when he would record Bad Boy Bill playing live on local station B96. The funky loops and breaks unique to Chicago disco caught his ear and hearing classic tracks like CZR's "Chicago Southside" on air was what gave him the push to delve into the world of DJing. Visualizing the edits he would hear on the radio and then tackling it himself, Mroz slowly learned the basics of mixing and scratching which eventually lead to his first gigs at house parties. Chicago house heads quickly took him into their ranks, appreciating his programming know-how and an ability to lay down the hard-hitting tracks that somehow slipped by the major players. Of course, his live energy didn't hurt his popularity as well, and Mroz is definitely conscious of this. As he says, "I get into DJing to the point that the audience becomes part of the musical experience. They give me the energy I feed off of". Since those days Mroz has certainly moved up the ranks, playing several Chicago based clubs in recent years such as Glow, (where he and a B96 DJ packed the VIP room to the point that the main room had been emptied), headlining parties alongside talent like Hatiras, Jorge Jaramillo (Who Da Funk), Josh the Funky 1, and CZR as well as being featured on B96, the station which first influenced him to begin to play. Not only has his recognition rapidly risen within his hometown, his mixes have been recognized recently in countries as far away as Germany, India, Poland, Morocco, Canada, South American, Austria, and England, proving him the cusp of the next wave of big talent.             What keeps him on top of his game? The answer is simple-a genuine love affair and drive for the music. "I have a constant beat in my head-a radio playing all the time, even when I go to bed. It's always going through my mind and body, twenty-four hours a day". And Mroz is finally acting upon this internal soundtrack. Look to see him not only continuing as a world-class DJ, but also producing tracks in the near future which reflect and build upon the sound that has become a part of his life.
